Terms and Conditions

1. Eligibility

Renters must hold a valid driver's license and be at least 21 years of age. Foreign nationals renting self-drive vehicles must present a valid international driving permit alongside their passport.

2. Booking & Confirmation

All rental requests submitted through this website are subject to vehicle availability and confirmation by our reservations team. A request does not guarantee a booking until confirmed in writing.

3. Payment & Deposit

A refundable security deposit is required at pickup. Daily rates are quoted in USD and exclude fuel unless otherwise stated.

4. Vehicle Use

Vehicles must be used in accordance with Ethiopian traffic law. Off-road use is limited to vehicles explicitly rented for that purpose. Smoking is prohibited in all vehicles.

5. Insurance & Liability

Basic insurance coverage is included with every rental. Renters are responsible for damage resulting from negligence, unauthorized use, or violation of these terms.

6. Cancellations

Cancellations made at least 48 hours before pickup are eligible for a full refund of any prepaid amount. Later cancellations may be subject to a cancellation fee.

7. Fuel Policy

Unless a listing states otherwise, vehicles are handed over with a set fuel level and must be returned at the same level. Vehicles returned with less fuel than at pickup will be charged the cost of refueling plus a service fee.

8. Mileage & Route Restrictions

Standard rentals include a fair-use daily mileage allowance stated at booking. Additional mileage is billed per kilometer at the rate shown in your rental agreement. Some vehicles may be restricted from certain routes (e.g. unpaved roads) unless rented specifically for that terrain.

9. Vehicle Owner Listings

Vehicle owners who list a car through our platform confirm they are the legal owner or an authorized representative, and that the vehicle is roadworthy, insured, and accurately described. Trails of Ethiopia reserves the right to remove any listing that does not meet our safety or condition standards.

10. Privacy

Information submitted through our booking, contact, and listing forms is used only to process your request and to communicate with you about it. We do not sell personal information to third parties. Contact us at support@trailsofethiopia.com to request a copy or deletion of your data.

11. Limitation of Liability

Trails of Ethiopia acts as a booking and vehicle-matching platform. While every listed vehicle is reviewed before approval, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from delays, road conditions, or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Any disputes will first be addressed through good-faith negotiation between the parties before further legal action.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services or applicable law. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
